We've been busy in the Studio, lately and after finally getting my head together I've managed to get four tracks recorded.
VoodooTV - The New opener to our upcoming EP
Cancerman - Something different
Running so long - was the first song we ever recorded... originally it was recorded to a drum loop on a Zoom pedal!
Bad Robot - We breathed new life into one of our songs that we could never get right before.
You can listen to these tracks at www.voodootv.biz/band/opentape/ . Originally we where going to host the tracks on a social networking site, I had them on last.fm... intill I realised just how complicated it was to find us never-mind play the tracks.
So I've opted for the simplest most direct method I could find. Muxtape is on an invite-system only, but luckily they've been kind enough to allow us to use the opentape code for free, forever.

Hello Clint and Terry,
ReplyDeleteJust checked out all of the four tracks on the site. I was listening to Running For Your Life and it sounded like the whole song had a delay on it. I didn't realise that I was actually listening to the song in two separate windows. I was convinced that you must of been under the influence to mix the whole with delay - my head was spinning haha.
I really like Number Station. The intro is amazing. Quite atmospheric and epic and from then on my foot didn't sto ptapping to the song. It's rocking.
I really like the beat on Cancerman. Very NIN. I love the synth work too. Those lower end notes are quite beefy. My sub woofer is making the windows shake :D
Bad Robot is my favorite though. I love everything about it. The bridge and solo fits in really well. And Terry sounds like Ozzy on the chorus :D
Take care,
James A.K.A Wallace
Cheers Man,
ReplyDeleteKind words and we both appreciate you taking the time to give them a good listen... and even a mini review!
These 4 in particular just seemed to flow. There where no snags (well, not as many technical problems as we had before!). A lot of first and second takes as well.
I'm really happy with these mixes, its just getting our sound "out there". That's my mission now.
I'm coming up again for the weekend, so I may try and lay down another track... and dream up some album art!
Have you got any more tracks in the works? A second EP? Or are you going to stick by promoting "They're not watching you"?
No challenge! I love listening to your stuff. It would be really good if you could upload your first EP too cos' I loved every song on it.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of new ideas just waiting to be worked on further. We have 3 new songs to play at our two gigs this saturday and sunday which we have been working on since our last gig last month. Hopefully it will go well. I've made up a bass line which I play with sustainy fuzz and an octave pedal to get a darker beasty bass sound :)
I'm thinking of re-recording the first EP in its entirety, or at least remix it. The newer recordings just seem to come out better... perhaps we have a better feel of the equipment now?
ReplyDeleteAnd then just releasing it again, but the old one as a freebie. That way I'm striving for the best sound I can possibly manage, whilst not binning the original tracks.
